SNSF has been the implementation partner for important government programmes on health (viz., Mother NGO for Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), Janani Suvidha Yojana, National Rural Health Mission’s Urban RCH) for the past two decades. These partnerships have helped SNSF to reach out the underserved and un-served populations living in difficult, hilly and largely arid regions of the country, as well as urban slums.
Working on the health of industrial workforce on the aspects of HIV/AIDS awareness, the knowledge of safety standards, the rights of workers and the ergonomics are the salient features of SNSF’s activities in this thrust area. Supplier factories of leading global garment retailers like GAP, large construction sites of Punj Lloyd (involving approximately 3000 workers) and several MSMEs have been the stage of SNSF’s work in this vertical.
Partnership with the AIDS control societies of Mumbai, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana to spread awareness about the causes and prevention of diseases among various high-risk groups like transport industry workers, migrant workforce and commercial sex workers was started in early 2000s and continues till date.
Usage of mobile health vans combined with street plays communicating health-related information has been a common modus operandi of SNSF’s health outreach initiatives.
