Started at the behest of SNSF’s long standing partner, American India Foundation (AIF), SNSF made a foray into skilling persons with disabilities (PwDs) in 2012. Its first brush with children and young adults with Speech and Hearing Impairment (SHI), was at the Welfare Centre in Gurugram.  Given that they are not distracted by sounds in the environment such persons have a better ability to concentrate and also have a heightened sense of sight.

Under this initiative SNSF skills the youth with SHI for employment. SNSF has thus designed a 2 months course in Packaging and Inspection (P&I). Modules in soft skills for workplace readiness and on-the-job training (OJT), that form an integral component of the P & I training program, have been designed in partnership with industry leaders and MSMEs.

By 2017, SNSF had trained 300 students of whom 70% had been placed in companies from retail, hospitality and manufacturing sectors. Gabriel, the ANAND flagship company, is a pioneer in absorbing graduates of the P&I course. Having made a small start in 2013, today there are 7 graduates of the SHI program working with GIL, Khandsa. Other landmarks in 2017 were the placement of a P&I graduate at SUJÁN Rajmahal Palace, Jaipur and Amazon  recruiting 14 candidates for their warehouse operations in Delhi NCR. Other employers of the P&I graduates include Lemon Tree Hotels, Myntra, Joost Juice Bars, The Leela Palace Hotel, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi; JW Marriott, Aerocity, New Delhi; Being Human etc.
