Project Nayandeep (Nayan – eyes Deep – oil lamp), the Foundation’s first public-private partnership effort, also marked a strategic shift in its functioning as the organization shifted from conducting one-off charitable activities to implementing projects with a defined purpose. Launched in 1992, the project’s name signifies it’s aim of igniting the light of vision in those deprived of it or at risk of losing it. ‘Nayandeep’, a tripartite partnership between Venu Eye Hospital, Helpage India and SNSF, was aimed at cataract treatment largely amongst rural Gurgaon’s underprivileged elderly population.
