SNS Foundation’s skill development vertical began its engagement with persons with disabilities (PwD) in the year 2012. Recently it completed the training of its 500th youth candidate under the category of PwD and aims to cross the 600th mark by March 2020. In its endeavour of providing skills training and promoting livelihoods among PwD, it is supported by the American India Foundation (AIF).

In 2019-20, this partnership project of AIF and SNSF, titled ABLE or Ability Based Livelihood Empowerment has AT&T as its principal sponsor. On September 25th, it was a proud moment for the SNSF and AIF teams when the first graduation ceremony of ABLE graduates for the year 2019-20 was graced by senior dignitaries from AT&T India and the Asia Pacific – Mr. Arun Karna, Managing Director, AT&T India; Mr. Bernard Yee, Region President Asia Pacific, AT&T and Ms. Mary Beth Asher, Vice President, Asia Pacific, AT&T. The event was adorned with success stories of ABLE graduates who have defied various odds to earn their rightful place in society as well as of their parents who too have had their own share of struggles bringing up a child with disability. The guests enjoyed their interaction with ABLE graduates and with much keenness learnt some basic sign language. As is customary, the event drew to a close with national anthem in sign language.
