Following the completion of her course, she got married to Bheemrao, who too hailed from an underprivileged agrarian family. Rekha reached out to SNSF so that her husband could enrol for the 70-day machinist course.
Bheemrao completed the course and in no time and started earning and supporting the family. Now, Bheemrao has his own bike and the family owns a small house in Kanavihonnapur. Life has changed dramatically for Rekha and her husband. Thanks to SNSF, she has gained confidence and transformed from a shy village girl to a self-assured young woman. SNSF has not only provided Rekha’s family with a sustainable income but also has empowered them socially. Over the past 2 years, the number of people who have got into the tailoring course has increased from 12 to 22 per batch, of which every sixth trainee has been from Rekha’s village.
