Illiterate, she borrowed at higher interest rates to address daily needs. SNSF gathered Sanwer women to create an SHG (Self-Help Group).
 
Prembai joined and was given a loan to start a juice shop on the road to Bhopal. After six months of financial literacy training, the SHG was linked to the bank. Her monthly income increased to Rs. 15,000; her husband’s monthly income trebled to Rs. 20,000. The result: her family has bought a Maruti car, two motorcycles, converted the house from kutcha to pucca and enrolled their children into English-medium schools.
