HL Mando ANAND India Private Limited (HLMAIL) is a joint venture between the ANAND Group and HL Mando Corporation, Korea, and a leading manufacturer of advanced braking systems, shock absorbers and electronic power steering systems for Indian and global automotive OEMs. Established in 1997, the company operates state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in the Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram districts of Tamil Nadu, delivering products that meet the highest international quality and safety standards.

Through its partnership with SNS Foundation (SNSF), HL MAIL supports initiatives focused on education, skill development, community sustainability and road safety, helping create long-term opportunities for individuals and communities across Tamil Nadu.

KEY INITIATIVES

Expanding Access to Higher Education

HLMAIL is committed to creating pathways to higher education for young people from underserved backgrounds, particularly women pursuing careers in engineering and manufacturing. Through scholarship programmes and partnerships with higher education institutions, the company supports students in building the skills and qualifications needed for successful careers in industry.

The company also collaborates with Anna University in Chennai on a unique ‘earn and learn model that allows diploma engineers to pursue higher education while gaining hands-on industry experience.

Impact

  • 634 engineering scholarships supported for young women from economically disadvantaged families
  • Highest number of scholarships supported by any ANAND Group company
  • Higher education opportunities expanded through partnership with Anna University
  • Students receive industry exposure, skill-based learning and financial support while pursuing their degrees

Strengthening Quality School Education

HLMAIL works closely with government schools in the Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts to improve learning environments and enhance educational outcomes. Investments in school infrastructure have helped create modern, safe and conducive spaces for learning while accommodating increasing student enrolment.

Impact

  • 28 classrooms constructed across partner government schools
  • Improved learning infrastructure for thousands of students
  • Student enrolment increased by approximately 40% in supported schools
  • Enhanced educational environment through sustained infrastructure development
Strengthening Quality School Education

Promoting Water Conservation and Environmental Sustainability

HLMAIL supports community-based environmental initiatives that strengthen water security and improve the resilience of local communities. Through the rejuvenation of traditional water bodies, the company has helped enhance rainwater storage and groundwater recharge in villages surrounding its manufacturing facilities.

  • Rainwater storage capacity increased by more than 55 million litres
  • Annual groundwater recharge enhanced by approximately 15 million litres
  • Improved water availability for residents and farmers in Pennalur and Irungattukottai
    villages in Tamil Nadu

Advancing Road Safety and Innovation

As a company operating in the mobility sector, HLMAI actively promotes road safety awareness and innovation. In partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, the company has supported initiatives that build awareness around safe driving practices while encouraging innovation in automotive safety technologies.

The programme equips drivers with knowledge on hazard perception, driving etiquette and responsible road behaviour, while also fostering the development of innovative solutions for India’s evolving mobility ecosystem.

  • More than 2,000 drivers trained in safe driving practices across Tamil Nadu
