For the last six years, SNSF has been in the business of promoting livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities (PwD). The focus largely has been on persons with speech and hearing impairment (SHI). After a short skills training course of 45 days in the trade of ‘Packaging and Inspection’, SNSF places them in jobs spanning three main sectors of retail & e-retail, manufacturing and hospitality. Till date SNSF has engaged with over 500 PwD.

To give further fillip to the cause of livelihood for PwD in the corporate sector, SNSF in partnership with American India Foundation (AIF), Sector Skill Council for Persons with Disability (SCPwD) and CII’s India Business Disability Network (IBDN) organised a symposium titled, ‘Diversity in the workforce’. Senior HR professionals from reputed companies viz. Royal Bank of Scotland, Intercontinental Group of Hotels, Kohler, Lumax, Omaxe Auto, Ibis Hotels and ANAND Group Gurugram Hub participated in the event. The event saw PwD share their life journey from being a dependent to a contributing member in their families and how they have been impacted through warm, all embracing workplaces.

The highlight of the day was a panel discussion involving employers who already have established systems and procedures for hiring and retaining PwD.
