CSR is firmly embedded in Henkel’s value system. Driven by the commitment to make a distinctive impact on the communities whose lives are touched by the company, Henkel ANAND India has implemented several programmes in rural India. The focus of Henkel ANAND India is centred around the utilisation of solar power, implementation of education programmes for the differently abled, skill development of the youth and greening of the environment.
Social engagement has formed an integral part of Henkel ANAND India’s activities from its very inception. Over the years, Henkel ANAND India has helped to build the infrastructure in government schools, enabled mentally challenged children to become self-dependent, created vocational skill development programmes and rolled out a number of volunteer programmes. Corporate volunteering, social partnerships, brand engagement and emergency aid form the four pillars of Henkel’s societal engagement. The “Make an Impact on Tomorrow” initiative was started by Henkel ANAND India to support employees and retirees in their voluntary social engagement efforts. Henkel ANAND India responds quickly and pragmatically during natural disasters by providing aid through its foundation.
Henkel ANAND India’s school is the only one of its kind in Mumbai, which instils the hope of a better life in the minds of several mentally ill children. The students enrolled in the school get trained to lead self-dependent lives and be financially independent.
Empowering India’s youth with adequate skills to earn a livelihood has been the foundation of Henkel’s CSR efforts. The electrician and plumber training courses, certified by the National Institute of Open Schooling, have enabled a number of young boys to become gainfully employed. Several young women, who have undergone the tailoring course, have become earning members of their families.
