Mr. Jaisal Singh

Mr. Jaisal Singh was born in New Delhi where he attended The Modern School, and the British School. He subsequently studied politics & government, and economics at Collingham in London.

In 2000, Jaisal established Sher Bagh, Ranthambhore which was among India’s first luxury safari camps. Thereafter, he signed a JV with the luxury hotel group Aman Resorts to set up the first Aman in India, which culminated in the opening of Aman-i-Khas also in Ranthambhore. In 2009, along with Anjali his wife, they expanded SUJÁN with the opening of The Serai, Jaisalmer. Sher Bagh and The Serai have been consistently acclaimed globally as being among the best hotels in the world by a series of international rankings and were the first few hotels in India to be accepted as members of Relais & Châteaux; an association of the world best hotels, hoteliers and grand chefs. In 2011, SUJÁN went global by partnering with Cheli & Peacock for Elephant Pepper Camp, situated within the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. The camp has played a key role in the Mara North Conservancy which has added 77,500 acres of protected area to the Mara ecosystem.

JAWAI between Jodhpur and Udaipur opened in 2013, and has won the CNBC Best Wildlife Experience in India in its first season, helping the SUJÁN brand to further consolidate itself as a market leader. In June 2014, SUJÁN was awarded a contract by the royal family of Jaipur to manage one of their royal palaces, The Rajmahal Palace, which dates back to 1729. The palace-hotel opened in 2015 after an elaborate refurbishment. As of today, all three SUJÁN properties in India are members of Relais & Châteaux.

Jaisal Singh is the first Indian to ever be elected Vice President of Relais & Châteaux and Member of their Executive Committee & Board of Directors. He is also the youngest person ever to hold that position.

He is a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s National Committee on Tourism.

Mr. Singh is a Director of the ANAND Supervisory Board, the apex governing body of the Group. He sits on the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee as well as the Personnel Committee of the Board. This aside, along with Mrs. Anjali Singh the Group’s Chairperson, he is actively involved in overseeing key areas like strategy, governance and JV partner relationships.

Jaisal has been committed to wildlife conservation from a young age and serves on the Executive Board of The Ranthambhore Foundation, which has pioneered and spearheaded community conservation initiatives in 96 villages that border the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve since 1988.

Jaisal Singh is a member of the Managing Committee of The Modern School, Barakhamba Road, New Delhi.

A talented polo player and commentator, Jaisal has played polo around the world and has a number of tournament wins to his name both in India and abroad. His efforts off the field have seen a continuation of this professionalism in his definitive work Polo in India, published by Roli Books in 2007. Mr. Singh is a co-author of Ranthambhore – The Tiger’s Realm (2011) along with Mrs. Anjali Singh and Mrs. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and a co-author of JAWAI- Land of the Leopard (2016) along with Mrs. Anjali Singh.

He is a devoted student of military history, and his articles on the subject have been published in Indian national newspapers including the Business Standard.
