Mr Deep C Anand, Founder of Anand and Chairman of the Deep C Anand Foundation
The history of Anand dates back to 1961, when Mr Deep C Anand, Founder of Anand and Chairman of the Deep C Anand Foundation, as an enterprising young man of 27 years, set up his first business venture - Gabriel India. The flagship company of the Group, Gabriel was set up in collaboration with Maremont Corporation (now Gabriel Ride Control Products of ArvinMeritor Inc.), USA for manufacture of shock absorbers at Mulund in Mumbai.
Mr Anand spent long hours discussing his vision and future plans with business magnates like Mr Keshub Mahindra, Mr Parikh (Chairman of Voltas), Mr Holck Larsen, Mr KC Maitra, Chairman of GKW, and eminent overseas friends in the auto industry like Mr John Panks – Automotive Products, UK, Chairman of TRW, Chairman of Maremont – Arnold Maremont. He also had his group of talented & bright entrepreneurial managers who helped him shape his thoughts and aspirations.
Over the next five decades, Anand formed similar alliances with leading global companies in the automotive component industry. With the establishment of this Joint Venture, Mr Anand set the pattern of collaborating and bringing into India the very best from all over the world.
Mr Deep C Anand (Founder of Anand and the Chairman of the Deep C Anand Foundation), alumnus of the Bishop Cotton School, Shimla joins Chippenham College of Technology, UK to study Mechanical Engineering. Does a 3-year apprenticeship with Westinghouse Brake & Signal Company, UK.

Mr Anand’s business career begins with his appointment as Plant Manager at Mahindra & Mahindra, Mumbai. Responsibilities include establishing the Jeep manufacturing plant in collaboration with American Motors of the USA.
