Mr Patel started his career with Anand Automotive Systems as General Manager of Purolator India Ltd, moved to Corporate Office responsible for Human Resource, Business Development and Strategy. In 1997 he was appointed as Managing Director Spicer India Limited. He was appointed, Chief Operating Officer of Anand Group in 1999 and CEO in 2003. Some of the most influencing concepts brought in by him were APS - to increase the value contribution and customer satisfaction, Six Sigma – a powerful problem solving approach, QCDGP – an approach to meet the customers needs on the quality, cost and delivery and Linchpin Positions – to create leadership pipeline and provide a clear defined development path for talented young professionals. Considering all his contribution to the Group and his capability to contribute further to the organistation, he will become a member of the Anand Supervisory Board, the highest policy making body in Anand Automotive Systems.
Deepak Chopra the CEO Designate of Anand Automotive Systems is suitably qualified to take over the responsibility from Chandrakant Patel in October 2009. He is a ‘home grown’ manager who brings 32 years of relevant experience in several important positions and high level of business acumen.
Deepak joined the organisation in 1976 as a Management Trainee at Parwanoo and has held various positions of growing responsibilities. The important assignments held by him over the years include Financial Controller of Purolator India Ltd., Financial Controller of Gabriel India Ltd., COO of Purolator India Ltd., (now MAHLE Filter Systems India Ltd.) COO of Mando India Ltd., COO of Arvin Exhaust India Pvt. Ltd. (now Emcon Technologies India Pvt. Ltd.) and MD and CFO of Anand Automotive Systems Ltd. Presently he is also the Chairman of the Boards and is overseeing operations of Degremont. Henkel Teroson India, Camfil Farr air Filteration India, and Chang Yun India.
My expectations from Deepak as new CEO Designate are higher and I am convinced that he has the capability and capacity to manage the business through many challenges facing us today. His challenge in the course of his journey as CEO starts with holding Anand Automotive Systems high in spite of the global recession that has affected the automotive sector tremendously.
I expected Deepak to successfully align our vision, to move Anand Automotive Systems from being a 'leader in automotive components' to becoming 'the preferred partner in automotive systems'. In his endeavor he will be faced with the challenges and opportunities to manage the 18 Group companies - though independent legal entities but as ‘One Corporate Entity, irrespective of the shareholdings.’
As a Group CEO Designate, Deepak is expected to successfully manage our companies and businesses by achieving a turnover of US$ 1 billion by 2012. He will have the support of the board members, advisors and you all to make it happen. |
